RAting Michigan Parks

Michigan is home to amazing people and places...and is currently suffering from the economy. But families are still in need of entertainment and time together. That's why we've started this blog: to motivate families to use their time together to get outside, explore this great state of ours, and have fun without spending a nickel.

More than anything, time spent having fun with your family creates beautiful memories and traditions that can be carried on for generations. Enrich your lives. Go outside and PLAY!

On Your Mark...

This blog has become a family project as well as a writing assignment for our daughters through the summer - a purpose to write about what we love - Playing! To make the summer extra special and affordable, we decided to explore different parks, playgrounds and campgrounds in Michigan. What we are discovering is the beauty of Michigan, the community within the parks, the resources available to us for no cost. Now that Michigan State Parks are using the Passport Program ($10 payable with your license renewal to give you access to all State Parks - previously available for about $30.00/year) the natural beauty of Michigan will be rediscovered. Match that with the economy in such a sad state, and Presto! Michigan Parks can become a mini-vacation: day-cation resorts.

We have chosen parks around Lansing, Brighton, Grand Rapids, Cheboygan, and everywhere in between. If you know of a park that your family loves, please let us know. In the meantime, grab your keys a map and get outside. It's a great day to explore! (and children sleep better if they have played outside...just in case you needed more motivation!)
